1526098 Backpack supports CAMP TRAILS CO 24 Nov 1975 [25 Nov 1974] 48224/75 Heading A3V [Also in Division A4] A backpack frame structure Fig. I comprises a central leg 14 terminating in a lower foot 16, and two lateral legs 18 one on each side of the leg 14, the legs 18 terminating in lower ends 20 and being connected to the central leg remote from the foot 16 and lower ends 20, and the foot 16 and ends 20 having relative freedom of movement. As described the frame structure is formed from a single rod or tube of tight metal bent to M-shape, the upper ends of the legs 18 being joined to branches of the leg 14 by portions 24. In use the frame is used in carrying a bag on a person's back. The portions 24 are received in pockets 28, Fig. 4, on the bag and are connected by spacing links 36 to shoulder straps 40. The straps 40 have one end attached to a belt 30 and their other ends are interconnected through a slide loop 54 connected by a strap 52 to the foot 16. The foot 16 is itself received in a pocket in the belt 30 and the ends 20 of legs 18 are loosely connected to the belt. The belt may have a metal reinforcement. |
