The stop is used for holding a car door open and comprises a bracket (213) with a spring steel backing (213c). This bracket is attached to the side of the door (219) by means of a bolt (36). Between this side and the backing is a block of foam rubber (239) which is compressed as the door operates. The pressure exerted by the block pushes the bracket forward, ensuring a plastic roller (50) remains in contact with the body side (210). The roller has a pentagonal cross section and is mounted on an eccentric pivot (212). This enables the position of the roller to be adjusted during assembly.
