<p>The shuttering for making a window or door opening in a concrete wall, consists of two moulds which are joined together, and thus avoid finishing or retouching work on the building site. One of the moulds is made of metal, and the other mould made of polystyrene or other suitable material which are joined together by a metal band and wooden crosspiece and fixed between two pieces of shuttering. After the concrete has been cast, the shuttering is removed, together with the polystyrene. The metal mould remains set in the concrete inside the building. The glass is inserted after the shuttering has been removed. The polystyrene mould may have a decorative or protective bar made of steel.</p> |
