<p>A thermoplastic tube has a fabric reinforcement on its outer surface with some strengthening fibres plus some thermoplastic fibres which are compatible with and fused to the outside of the tube itself. The reinforcement is e.g. a fabric, or a spirally wrapped tape, the tube and some fibres are e.g. polypropylene and the strengthening fibres are e.g. glass. There are no problems of weld lines (which arise when welding the edges of sheet-wound similar material). The process is esp. for polypropylene tubes and provides a reinforcement capable of accepting a further outermost GRP reinforcement.</p> |
