<p>Bonding ceramic or other refractory components which are subjected to thermal cycling and have different thermal expansions is described. The bonding of two components, at least one of which is ceramic, is achieved by a layer of resilient heat-resistant laminated composites consisting of layers of woven graphite cloth bonded together by silicone rubber layers. Components which have different thermal expansions or which are exposed to different temps. can be bonded together without fracture because of the resulting stress. An additional advantage is that the useful temp. of silicone rubber can be extended from 450 degrees F-600 degrees F.</p> |
