With suspended filing systems it is often useful to be able to attach a number of separate files together in concertina fashion. To enable this to be done with different types of files a special type of identification tab (6) is used. The tab (6) fits over the edge of the file cover and has a central flap (7) to receive the edge of an adjacent file. In addition there are two bosses (9) on either side of the flap to receive the press studs of an adjacent file. A file fitted with this type of identification tag is thus compatible with two different types of files.
