The solid fuel burner consists of a warming compartment (1) into which a cooked food container is introduced, a combustion chamber with grate (3), a safety (10) device and an independent ignition system (7, 8). The grate also acts as base (3) which is slotted into the heating compartment (1) using little force. The grate is readily removed after use to be replaced by a new grate. The appliance is housed inside a protective cover of thermoplastics material, and only removed at the moment of use.
