<p>The valve is for a gas-fired water heater, having a feed passage with throttle for the cold water, a discharge passage for hot water, and a diaphragm-type gas safety valve actuated by the dynamic pressure drop across the throttle. A stop valve is mounted in a bypass passage across the throttle. The bypass passage (30, 31) extends from the cold water feed (12) to the hot water discharge passage (24) and the stop valve (32) in this passage is an overflow valve, opening in opposition to a spring above a predetermined minimum flow rate. The passage can run from the high-pressure water chamber containing the gas valve diaphragm (7), the overflow valve being near the point where it is connected to this chamber (15).</p> |
