The threading up of yarn on a textile machine is effected with an air transfer device, such as a pneumatic gun, which causes the yarn to pass from the exit of a treatment means such as a heater, to the inside of the gun, whilst the nozzle of the gun is moved from a first position at the exit of the treatment means to a guide tube, so as to grip the yarn and allow the end leaving the treatment device to be drawn into the guide tube. Previous attempts to effect this transfer have been effected with a delicate and expensive device which requires a certain dexterity on the part of the operator. The threading-up device of the invention is simple, economical, precise and efficient.
