Plaster of Paris compsn. for wall coatings - contg. cellulose derivs., with improved storage and frost resistance

Coating compsn. esp. for walls, is based on (A) plaster of Paris and water, with addn. of (B) Na carboxymethyl cellulose, (c) methyl ethyl and/or methyl ethyl cellulose, and opt. (D) other solid additives. Wt. ratio (A):(B):(C) is 60-97.5:2-26:0.5-4 and amount of water is 35-80 wt.% based on dry solids. Compsn. is used as a levelling, bonding, plastering, priming and moulding material. The compsns. do not set during storage but maintain their original consistency. They are not frost sensitive and can be stored and applied without special heating. Suitable for machine application. No increase in setting time is required and in many cases, a single application gives surface quality previously only obtainable from two coats. A plaster bond as well as a polymer bond to the substrate is obtained. Fillers may be incorporated to improve properties and reduce cost.
