<p>The nut and bolt assembly system is for use with a load-indicating nut ensuring that the bolt has been pulled down to the correct degree. A tightening torque is applied to the nut simultaneously with a detector for the alteration in distance between two datum points on the nut body. Torque continues to be exerted until the detector has reacted to an alteration of a predetermined value in the distance concerned, and which in turn can be arranged to initiate a visual or audible signal. Where a power-operated spanner is used, the signal can cut off the power to it.</p> |
