A drying and ironing machine comprises a heated cylinder around which a textile fabric passes, entering at, and is collected, ironed and dried, in the trough. Three press-rollers, are held against the heated cylinder by laterally mounted springs. Flexible endless ribbons or tapes, sepd. from each other, are held against the heated cylinder, behind and under it, by the last of the press-rollers, and by attendant rollers. The heat-resistant tapes are distributed closely across the width of the machine, so as to be capable of handling narrow materials. The method avoids the use of a cylinder blanket, which may quickly deteriorate in the high temp. conditions generated by the heated cylinder. The replacement of the blanket by press-rollers and separate tapes provides an ironing action, which is followed by a further heat treatment, to avoid creasing before the fabric is discharged into the trough.
|
