Rectangular bloom inversion system - uses magnets mounted on pivoted linkage arms to alternately engage opposed bloom faces

The system inverts a rectangular body of soft magnetic material, particularly a bloom or billet. This is pulled up into the vertical position by a crane magnet acting against its side uppermost when horizontal, and then deposited again the other way up. As the bloom approaches the vertical position (30), a second magnet (12) is placed against the side which has originally underneath. The first magnet (10) is then released, and the second magnet used to lower the bloom so that it lies on its side which originally was uppermost.
