Sliding vane rotary IC engine - has guide bearings and sealing strips in end faces of cylinder

Circular rotor (3) is mounted on a hollow output shaft (1) eccentrically in the cylinder. The rotor has radial slots in which vanes (4) slide in and out to press on the inside of the cylinder. The space between the rotor and cylinder is thus divided into variable volume working spaces. A circular groove in each end face of the cylinder carries a ring of ball bearings (10). Sealing strips (9) forming arcs of circles are inserted in grooves in the endplates at a radius outside that of the ball bearings. The sealing strips are concentric with the rotor and the bearings with the cylinder. The engine runs efficiently at high speed.
