Medicaments contain (a) one or more of the plasma proteins whose concn. is increased by the pathological process, or (b) a plasma protein mixt. contg. a plasma protein as defined in (a), or (c) an endogenous mediator, esp. a leucocytic endogenous mediator (LEM), which induces the change in plasma protein concn. specific to the pathological process. The medicaments stimulate the body's defence mechanism against the pathological process. Prefd. active ingredient is fibrinogen.
