The floor buffing machine may be positioned and operated on a stand to remove built-up accumulations of wax and dirt from the buffing pad. The stand has a flat elevated apertured surface with radially positioned curved bars arranged in an annular pattern over the apertures. Operation of the buffing revolves the pad relative to the bars (17) and their arrangement and shape causes the buffing pad to be flexed progressively so as to effectively loosen accumulated wax and dirt deposits which otherwise interfere with the efficient use of the buffing pad. The loosened deposits fall through the openings (15) into the interior.
