Collector comprises a transparent cover plate spaced above a metallic absorption plate whose upper surface is coated with black absorption material and in contact with heat transfer fluid carrying paths. A heat insulating element is spaced below the absorption plate and comprises a gas impermeable plate having an upper reflective surface. The plates are enclosed on their sides by a housing.
