After a fabric has passed through a heated drying zone, where it has been in temp. >130 degrees C, it is given a combined cooling and dampening shock process, before the material is laid or stacked. The hot fabric is treated with cold fluid in sufficient quantity to bring the cooled material to a condition where it has a residual moisture content of 10%, with cold water being the pref. medium, applied as a mist. The cold water mist is achieved by mixing the water with air before application. The process ensures that the treated fabric has a constant residual moisture content, and that the structure of the fabric does not continue to change after it has been heated for drying.
|
