Removal of moisture from underground floors - using electro-potential system with anode made from conducting plaster or coating as layer on inside of wall

Subterranean floors in buildings are kept dry by an electro-drainage technique. The plus electrode for this is formed as a conducting plaster or paint on the inner side of the wall. The minus electrode is on the outside, mounted as an earth at a distance from the wall in the ground. To seal and draw of any water rising rising by capillary action horizontal holes are bored near the base of the wall through it. Into these the conducting plaster or mortar is injected to act as electrodes, having good electrical connection with the conducting plaster layer. The two types of electrodes are in such number and construction that the current density on the earth surface facing the wall is approx -jp =10-4 A/cm2 while that of the wall - ji =0.25 x 10-4 x t-1 A/cm2 where t is the thickness of the wall being protected.
