An electrolyte for a secondary battery comprising an eutectic mixture is provided to ensure the stability of a battery by virtue of excellent thermal and chemical stability and flame resistance and decreased reduction potential of the eutectic mixture. An electrolyte for a secondary battery comprises a eutectic mixture comprising: (a) an amide group-containing compound having at least one electron-donating substituent introduced to the nitrogen atom; and (b) an ionizable lithium salt. The eutectic mixture has a decreased reduction potential by the electron donating substituent introduced thereto. The electron-donating substituent has a Hammett substituent constant of less than 0.
