The electrodes of the group are separated by electrolyte spaces 6 in which are arranged gas locks in contact with a gas eliminating material and in contact with each other via connection 5. The gas eliminating material may be the electrode material itself which may further contain a catalyst, e.g. platinum and the connections may be formed by holes 20 through the bipolar electrode (the holes may contain PTFE) and which may be in the form of a loop or spiral connecting electrolyte spaces other than those immediately adjoining each other. The electrodes may be impregnated with PTFE, may contain Fe, Ni, Cd hydroxide, iron or silver oxide or iron and lead dioxide and may be held in frames located in an insulating envelope 9 contained in a steel pressure vessel 14. |
