In previous devices for adjusting the positions of a plurality of elements arranged side-by-side, and more particularly for pairs of blades for cutting strip material lengthwise, a sensor associated with one of the elements reports the nominal value of the position of the element to a control unit which compares it with the rated or correct value. If there is any difference, drive means cause the element to move. The present invention provides for repositioning the individual elements taking into account the position of adjacent elements.
