The pipe is formed with at least two connecting portions spaced along and secured to the pipe and having a through passage with an axis at right angles to a plane passing through the axis of the pipe. The pipe is fed into a casting die having a shape corresponding to the shape of the connecting portions. The pipe is aligned in the casting die so that the axis of a core shaping the through passage is offset relative to the pipe axis to allow a tool to form a duct connecting the through passage with the pipe. The pipe and connecting portions are coupled by exerting a pressure on the external surface of the pipe while the material of the connecting portion crystallises.
