<p>The magnetic device holds a prosthesis, partic. a denture, in place on a bone. It fits in a cavity formed in the bone and incorporates a seating structure with locking device holding it in place in the cavity, while a magnetic mass is secured to the structure. The locking device is extended in the cavity by the insertion of the magnetic mass. The structure can be a plate having a first stable position in which it is retracted to allow insertion. and a second extended one securing it in place. the plate can be of magnetic material such as soft iron, while the mass is a permanent magnet.</p> |
