<p>The travelling factory for making precast concrete panels and may be incorporated on a string of self-propelled canal barges. The arrangement effects economics in the transport of the panels from the factory to the construction site. Four similar barges may be used, each with a roadway gangplank. The gangplank may be located in the bows, and may span to the shore or to a second barge. A main and a secondary barge may incorporate plant for casting the panels and for manufacturing concrete respectively. A third barge may be used for storing bending and cutting the reinforcement, and a fourth barge may constitute a floating crane. Alternatively, the factory may be incorporated in a single multi-deck ship. The ship also has a roadway gangplank fore, and the concrete making and casting operations may take place in aft and fore areas respectively.</p> |
