Leather pieces joined to knitted goods - in ladder proof manner by perforating pieces at stitch loop pitch and joining to goods with stitch chain needles

Leather pieces are joined to knitted goods in a machine having an indexable support on which the leather pieces are laid for intermittent feeding at rates corresp. to the pitch of the loop stitches of the knitted goods. Machine has two sets of needles, one for making holes in the pieces along the edges which are to be joined and the other set is used for making the joining stitches. Perforating needles are shorter than the stitching needles and the feeding may also be effected by friction bands.
