Hair-care compositions in the form of aqueous, alcoholic or aqueous alcoholic solutions, creams, gels, emulsions, or of aerosols which optionally contain a propellant are provided which contain at least one polymeric quaternary ammonium salt which contains cationic units of the formula <IMAGE> wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are the same or different and represent alkyl, cycloalkyl or alkenyl, aryl or aralkyl, or (R1 and R2) and/or (R3 and R4) together with the nitrogen atom to which they are bonded, form an unsubstituted or substituted heterocyclic ring containing 3 to 6 ring members, A1 represents an optionally substituted alkylene, cycloalkylene or aralkylene bridging group and A2 is a group of the formula <IMAGE> The compositions are especially useful as shampoos. |
