A plastics coating is sprayed or brushed onto printing machine surface areas coming into contact with (various flexographic) printing inks, e.g. ink troughs, overflow tanks, pumps and pipes. The coating consists of a strippable lacquer with high strength and low gas, vapour and liquid permeability, which is partic. resistant to the ink and its solvent, repels the ink and allows any adhering ink residues to be washed off (with water) before the ink is changed. It makes time consuming and troublesome cleaning of these areas largely superfluous. The coating pref. is coloured, so that flaws are readily discernible. The lacquer consists of 5-25 (15)(wt.)% vinyl chloride copolymer (with vinyl acetate), 1-2% plasticiser, 1-3% antiadhesive agent and 70-93% organic solvent (aromatics, ketones and/or esters). solns. in EtOAc with a viscosity of 65 plus-or-minus 10 cP at 20 degrees C or in 1:1 acetone/toluene with a viscosity of 110 plus-or-minus 10 cP are pref.
|
