Axial thrust bearing for open-end spinning rotor shaft has at least the section of the shaft adjacent the bearing provided with a surface whose hardness is 55C Rockwell. Pref. the end of the shaft is polished to a depth corresp. to Rt 1 and the shaft is supported by the nip of guide rollers whose peripheral surface is lined with polyurethane whose hardness corresp. to approx. 95 Shore. Thrust bearing is wear resistant and optimally suppressed against dynamic and acoustic vibrations.
