摘要 1353619 Ammoxidation process SUMITOMO CHEMICAL CO Ltd 28 May 1971 [29 May 1970 11 Sept 1970] 17899/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division B1] Acrylonitrile is prepared by reacting propylene, oxygen and ammonia in the presence of catalyst which comprises (a) catalytically-active material having the empirical formula Mo a P b Tl c Fe d Bi e X s O g wherein X is one or more of magnesium, cobalt, nickel and manganese and wherein a is 12, b is from 0 to 5, c is greater than 0 but not more than 2, d is from 0À1 to 5, e is from 0À1 to 5, f is from 2 to 15 and g is from 38À3 to 81À5 and, optionally, (b) carrier material, for example selected from silica, alumina, titania and silicon carbide, in an amount constituting less than 90 weight per cent, for example from 5 to 90 weight per cent, of the catalyst. The specification gives details relating to the preparation of the catalyst by a generally conventional procedure. The ammoxidation reaction may be effected at a temperature of from 300 to 520‹ C. and a pressure of from 0À7 to 5 atmospheres, optionally in the presence of steam and/ or gaseous diluent selected from nitrogen, carbon dioxide and argon; the catalyst may be in the form of a fixed bed or a fluidized bed. The propylene may contain a minor proportion of saturated hydrocarbon of low molecular weight, for example propane; the oxygen may be supplied as such or in the form of air, optionally oxygen-enriched. Examples relate to the use of various catalysts (including thellium-free but otherwise similar comparison catalysts) which contain phosphorus and, as carrier material, silica.
