PURPOSE:To obtain the color liquid crystal display element which does not deteriorate in display contrast for a long period by forming a partition wall which parts liquid crystal between the internal surfaces of both upper and lower electrode substrates at the position of light shield masks succeeding in a right-left direction by using an adhesive. CONSTITUTION:The partition wall adhesive 3 is formed extending in the right-left direction of the liquid crystal display element 1 to outside a display pattern 2 so as to hold the gap between the upper and lower electrode substrates to specific length, and the adhesive is formed at the same position with the light shield masks 4 to narrow width which is 20 - 50mum narrower than the width of the light shield masks without touching a display pattern 5, so when a display is viewed, the adhesive is not conspicuous, so the display quality is not deteriorated. A color filter 6 is arranged overlapping with the display pattern 5 and the partition wall adhesive 3 is formed at height which is 3 - 10mum than the thickness of a liquid crystal layer before the upper and lower substrates are assembled; when the liquid crystal layer is parted into horizontally small parts which are narrow in vertical direction, the pressure difference between the upper and lower parts in the liquid crystal layer becomes slight in each small part and there is no difference in the thickness of the liquid crystal layer, so that a difference in neither display contrast nor color tone is recognized. |
