The system recovers minerals under water, in or near the seabed. A buoyant material lighter than water and capable of adhering to the mineral oarticles, is distributed in or above the seabed. The mineral particles adhering to it are thus also made buoyant, and are collected and transported away. The particles themselves can be made buoyant, the buoyant material contg. fine gas bubbles, partic. of air. The material used can be such as only adheres to the particles required, sepg. them from others. The seabed can be loosened or fluidised by the injection of liquid and/or gas.
|
