A cross-linked hydrophilic foam having a threedimensional network comprises the reaction product of (a) a first component comprising at least 3% of an isocyanate capped hydrophilic polyoxyethylene polyol having an average molecular weight of about 200 to 20,000 and a reaction functionality of at least about 2, (b) a second component comprising a crosslinking agent having a reaction functionality greater than 2, said crosslinking agent being a polyol, polyamine, polythiol or polyisocyanate, and (c) a third component comprising water, the amount of available water being sufficient to provide about 6.5 to about 390 H2O moles per mole of NCO groups. |
