摘要 <p>An improved electrostatic scrubber to remove contaminant aerosol particles such as fly ash from the fluid discharge of for example coal fired power plants. The scrubber includes a cooling chamber followed by a mist eliminator and at least one spray tower having a contaminant aerosol particle charger, a cleaning liquid droplet charger, and liquid spray nozzles. The fluid discharge is first Passed through the spray tower where an aerosol particule electrostatic charger is arranged and located both to give the aerosol particle a sufficient residence time in the charging zone and to avoid giving any transfer of charge to the liquid droplets. Droplets of cleansing liquid are sprayed into the flowing fluid stream and are charged to a potential differing from that impressed on the aerosol particles. Dry purge air is employed to protect electrical leads and nozzle components from reverse flow of liquids. A bubble scrubber receives the flowing fluid stream containing charged aerosol particles and charged liquid droplets from the spray tower. The bubble forming liquid in the scrubber has a charge opposite to the charge on at least one of the aerosol particles and the liquid droplets. The flowing fluid stream is passed through the bubble forming liquid to remove the particles and droplets therefrom.</p>
