<p>Gas (air) can be introduced into liq. during microbiological processes (producing of antibiotics, growth of micro-organisms) by a revolving shrouded impeller. The impeller has at the axial suction opening a venturi-like contraction. Suction holes for the gas to be introduced are arranged at the narrowest place, which the gas reaches through a hollow shaft. Impeller speed need not be excessively high; reliable function is obtd. even for relatively high viscosities; and optimum conditions are adjustable by varying the venturi section or impeller dimensions.</p> |
