Hand punch with notched square socket at tip - is for driving cable securing wedge bolts with split pincer head

The hand punch (1) is for driving special tapered ribbed anchor bolts (9) into previously drilled holes in e.g. masonry. The bolt has a pincer shaped projecting head (10) with a slot (12) down the middle. The head can secure e.g. a cable (13) in position. The head of the punch incorporates a notched socket (4) which houses the head (10) of the bolt. The rear (3) of the punch (1) is struck by a hammer, and the driving forces transmitted to the bolt. The walls (5) of the socket (4) converge nominally towards the base. The notches on opposite walls hold the cable during driving. The socket (4) may be square and the punch may include a hollow handle (2) with a hand guard (7). A development of the design has a head with two sockets of different sizes.
