<p>A porous earthenware supporting member for reverse osmosis membranes comprises an elongated cylindrical hollow member of a calcined clayey porous material preferably of the montmorillonite type, said elongated cylindrical hollow member being provided with intercommunicated pores of a diameter of not more than 1 micron, said elongated cylindrical hollow member showing highly smooth surfaces in order to provide a uniform support for a reverse osmosis membrane operated at very high pressures.</p> |
