<p>Method of treating the surfaces of aluminium (alloy) comprises immersion in, spraying or coating with an aq. alkaline soln. at pH 102(10-14) contg. Ti ions and a complexing agent, then water washing and treating with an aq. acid soln. the principal ingredient of which is a tannic acid, pref. of pH 1.5-6.0. Pref. the adhaline soln contains 0.01-10 g/l Ti, and the acid soln. contains 0.1-50g/l tannic. Chromatic treatment may be avoided hence avoiding atmospheric pollution with the waste prods. Expensive plant associated with chromate is avoided, as is heavy electricity consumption.</p> |
