<p>Quat. ammonium salts of formula (I) are new: (where n is 1-4; R1 and R2 are 1-4C alkyl; Y is H or alkyl; A is Me or Et; B is Me, Et, n-Pr or i-Pr; C is Et or a benzyl gp. opt. substd. by one or more Me or MeO gps. or by a Cl atom; X- is a physiologically acceptable anion). (I) are smooth-muscle relaxants useful as spasmolytics or agents for increasing coronary and peripheral circulation. A typical cpd. is 4- 2-(N-N-diethyl-N-benzylammonio)ethoxy -3,5-dimethyl-beta, beta-diphenyl-propiophenone chloride.
