The planet wheel carrier consists of a disc (11) integral with the central drive shaft. The disc has a number of ribs (12) along the outside dia. parallel to the shaft axis. The ribs support a second disc (10) parallel to the first one. Each disc has holes (14) in line, to take the pinion shafts. The wheel may be cast or fabricated by welding. Machining is reduced to a minimum.
