The car door lock incorporates a microswitch connected in the circuit of a warning system. The system indicates whether doors are properly locked. When locked, the latch (4) is prevented from rotating by a tongue (4a) engaging with the hooked end of the lever (5). When the door closes, rotation of the latch causes the lever to be deflected, firstly by the passage of the first tongue (4b) and secondly by the passage of the second tongue (4a). The deflection due to the second tongue is sufficient to cause the arm (7) to press against the spring (13), thus operating a microswitch (8) connected in a circuit which registers engagement of the lock.
