Lining for the bottom half of a coffin has a mattress-type inflatable portion covering the bottom, and a circumferential, flexible, water-impermeable, border strip which is firmly connected with the mattress and, when turned upwards, reaches to the top edge of the bottom half of the coffin. Both the inflatable mattress and the strip may be made of polyethylene.
