Peak load electricity generating station - has endless chain of buckets to raise water which is discharged into reservoir above turbines

An endless chain carries water buckets and at the bottom, the buckets pass through a water container and pick up water. At the top of the chain the buckets are inverted and the water drops into an upper reservoir. The water flows from the upper reservoir back into the lower one through turbines which generate electricity to drive the chain. Only a min. of external energy has to be added to overcome friction. For peak load generation additional turbines are brought into action. A second similar chain rotates in the opposite direction and is similarly equipped with turbines. This balances the mechanism.
