<p>Incendiary compsn. for armour-piercing incendiary shell contains ca. 2 pts. metallic oxidant as oxygen carrier and 1 pt. metal powder (mixt.) as energy carrier, together with min. 5 wt.% rapidly reacting reducing agent to increase the ignition rate and the intensity of burning. The front incendiary compsn., which is sealed in a ballistic cap in front of the penetrating cone and/or opt. the pyrotechnic (incendiary) compsn. behind the cone also contains a separate ignition charge, esp. in the tip of the chamber, which can be initiated on impact with the target. The incendiary compsn. has a high thermal load, the required short ignition time and burns with the necessary severity and intensity - even with reduced atmos. oxygen supply - for max. spread of fire. The incendiary compsn. is pref. of Fe2O3, Fe3O4 or MnO2; Al and/or Mg; and Ti, Zr or Ce (alloy); and the ignition charge of Ti, Zr or Ce (alloy) and KC104.</p> |
