In a prefabricated concrete moulding, such as a panel or block, esp. panels forming an enclosure or fence, each panel has a tongue on one end and a corresp. groove on its opposite end, so the tongue on one panel can be located in the groove in the next panel in a row. The panels are made in a battery of moulds contg. inserts (a) employed to form the tongues and grooves; and inserts (a) remain on the panels after the latter have been removed from their moulds. Inserts (a) are pref. also used for the moulding of corner pieces fitted with tongues so panels can be assembled at 90 degrees to each other, e.g. to make a rectangular enclosure. The inserts (a) are pref. made of expanded plastic, esp. foamed polystyrene, and are used to protect the tongues and grooves during the transport of the moulded panels etc. to an assembly site. Used e.g. in the enclosure of a garden, park or sports field, where the inserts (a) provide an inexpensive method of protecting the tongues and grooves from breakage until a fence or enclosure is made.
|
