The lateral-duct blower has an impeller (2a) with two blade assemblies acting in parallel, or in series as a two-stage impeller, and a cooling fan (10a) co-axially connected with the impeller. A cooling fan is arranged to either side of the blower housing, and there are guides (12a) for the cooling air. The blower unit (15) is provided with a flange (20) which permits it to be connected to an identical neighbouring unit. The guide may consist of a cap-shaped shell around the blower housing. The flange (20) on one end of the blower assembly may serve to secure an end cover (22). The flange (20) on the other end may serve to secure a flange (21) carrying the drive motor (17).
