An automatic changing unit is intended to allow playing of a number of tape cassettes from a magazines. The system allows playing to continue to a predetermined point. The cassettes are arranged in a stack on a table that is capable of both rotary indexing and linear movement in vertical and transverse directions. The cassette changer operates by moving in sideways to gain access to the cassette being played.
