In an electronically controlled propeller-type indicator, recording the level to which e.g. a container or reservoir or tank has been filled, the twisting or torsion of the main shaft or a shaft in the motor drive unit, or the axial pressure of a shaft (e.g. in the case of helical gears), or a rise in the power fed to the motor, or of the pressure onto a stop block, is used to trigger off a signal. The propeller shaft is made of corrosion-resistant material e.g. a plastics such as a polyamide.
