1505698 Vacuum drum filter KLOCKNERHUMBOLDT-DEUTZ AG 6 Aug 1975 [7 Aug 1974] 32904/75 Heading BID [Also in Division B5] A filter for making briquettes of iron ore comprises a trough 2 for containing iron ore sludge, an inward-flow vacuum filter drum 1 rotating partly immersed therein, and a gridlike elastic moulding belt 9 entrained round suction region α of the drum and round a spaced reversing roller 10, the apertures in belt 9 (Fig. 2) narrowing towards the filter surface of the drum. Briquettes of ore are formed in the belt apertures and liquid is drawn therefrom round region α, the briquettes falling on to conveyor 12 as belt 9 passes round roller 10. A blowing or belt-shaking device 13 ensures that all apertures are emptied before the belt returns to the drum. The drum comprises a filter layer 5 over an array of cells 6 individually connected by pipes 7 to apertures in the rotary plate 8 of a valve connected to a suction pump. Slurry enters trough 2 from mixing tank 3. Conveyor 12 may carry the moulded briquettes through a calcining or sintering furnace. |
