The present invention relates to a big file upload and download system using a plugin. The big file upload and download system using a plugin comprises: a plugin storage unit which stores a plugin including a program for enhancing upload and download speeds of a file; a user input unit which receives a user input for uploading or downloading a file; a plugin executing unit which executes a plugin stored in the plugin storage unit when the user input is received by the user input unit and a size of the file is greater than or equal to a preset size; and a file uploading and downloading unit which, when the plugin executing unit executes the plugin, uploads or downloads the file. According to the present invention, it is possible to increase an upload speed and a download speed even when a big file is uploaded or downloaded, which improves system usability performance for a user.
